Trankey Doo

During the day you’ll have the option of learning the Trankey Doo with Swing Out West’s Regan and Dani. The Trankey Doo is a jazz dance choreography that first appeared at the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem during the 1940s. We dance it to Dipsy Doodle sang by Ella Fitzgerald. Here’s the original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ud5RvFmSfko and here’s a modern version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXdEMzoA3_Q

Very much en vogue on the Lindy Hop scene at present, this stylish stroll is heaps of fun to learn and a great routine to perform. On Saturday 5th March (the same day as our Sugar Foot Stomp with Company B), we’re delighted to be bringing the Tranky Doo to Plymouth. Regan and Dani of Swing Out West will be leading the workshop during the afternoon. Everyone is welcome, including absolute beginners, but some experience of jazz steps would be advantageous.

The workshop will run from 12.30pm until approximately 4.30pm. The hall will be open early so if you fancy bringing lunch along to munch at the hall beforehand, you’re more than welcome.
