Our dance group is a friendly, inclusive environment. Here are a few tips to keep everyone happy. If you have any concerns, please talk to one of the teachers at any time.
- We often dance on crowded dance floors, and crashes can really hurt. Look before you move your partner, look before you step backwards, take small steps, and stop to apologise if you do have an accident.
- Do ask other people to dance, and that includes the teachers – we love being asked! Don’t feel like you have to say yes if you don’t want to.
- Aerials, dips and tricks are cool, but should only be done if both partners have adequate training. Leads, check your partner is happy to do these moves before attempting them. Ensure there is plenty of space around you, for many moves this may only be possible in a performance or jam circle.
- Please respect the personal space of your dance partners. It’s easy to accidentally touch a partner somewhere inappropriate. If you find yourself doing it accidentally, or it happening to you, the teachers can offer tips.
